We have an excellent new Consultant Gastroenterologist job opportunity available at the moment
This is an exciting opportunity to participate in and to further develop the Gastroenterology Service providing for the local population. The Hospital has 400 beds serving the local population of 341,000 in the district.
The gastroenterology is currently managed generically with five consultants sharing the patient pool. The responsibility for in-patients rotates on a regular basis between the consultants. In early 2006 the new DTC opened encompassing a new, fully equipped, 4 room endoscopy department. There is a nutrition team which manages all TPN, PEGs and complex enteral feeds.
The addition of specialist nurses has added a dimension to patient care which we wish to continue to pursue and currently there are nurse led clinics in IBD and celiac disease. In addition, there is open access flexible sigmoidoscopy, upper GI endoscopy and cancer, IBD liaison and a telephone results service. The GI physiology service includes ambulatory pH monitoring, static water perfusion oesophageal manometry and biochemical testing.
The Unit is the recognised South Coast Cancer Network provider for the EUS service which has both linear and radial scopes. Most modalities of endoscopy are available with the exception of oesophageal EMR, laser and argon beam.
The unit has a networked endoscopy reporting and image capture facility between the rooms, x ray and outlying hospitals.
There is a two way video/sound teaching link between the unit and the postgraduate centre which is ideal for live demonstration teaching.
Candidates must have:
 Very good English skills
 European Nationality
 At least 3 years experience in Gastroenterology at Specialist level
We organize initial telephone interviews and prepare you fully for the interview
We will help you with registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), the interviews and all the logistics of moving to the UK.
