An important University Hospital in the South East of Ireland requires a Consultant doctor in General Radiology.

The hospital is a Model 4 Hospital in the South South West Hospital Group (SSSWHG) and provides a broad range of Regional Services to the population of the South East(SE) (520,000).
It is one of the 8 Cancer centres, a regional trauma centre and dedicated teaching hospital for UCC & RCSI students with 535 inpatient bed capacity. Specialty Services include Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Acute Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, GI, Haematology, Palliative Care, Oncology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The Radiology Department is a busy Consultant led department committed to providing a high quality imaging service to patients from the South East Region and within the South South West Hospital Group.
The hospital has 11 Diagnostic Consultant Radiologists and 2 WTE interventional Radiologists.
There are currently 10 Specialist Registrars attached to the Department.
The hospital provides the following radiology services:
MRI
CT Scanning
Plain Radiographs: UHW is the trauma centre for the SE region as well as referrals from GP’s Outpatients and inpatients from the full range of subspecialities.
Interventional Radiology
Fluoroscopy
Mammography
Nuclear medicine
Ultrasound
This is for a Consultant Radiologist post based at the hospital to provide quality Radiology services to the people of the South East.
This post has a 1:12 on-call commitment

Initial contract for up to 12 months to start ASAP.
Approximate net monthly salary for BASIC pay is of 9000-11.000€ net/month after tax and pension deductions for Consultant positions depending on experience. The new Consultant salary has a gross income of €214,113 – €257,193 per annum (37 hours week) pro rata on a six-point scale plus on call allowances.
30 working days per Year holidays for Consultants+ public holidays (there is 10 in a year).
7 study days leave per year to attend conferences or further education for Consultants.
There will be vouched annual expenses of up to €12,000 for continuous medical education.
Up to €8,000 per annum will be made available for support for innovation projects.
Lucrative pension scheme included of around 1000€/month.
REQUIREMENTS:
Should be on the Specialist registrar of the Irish Medical Council for Radiology if this is NOT the case we will help all eligible candidates to get registered with the Irish Medical Council on the Specialist Registrar if he/she has completed his/her training in Radiology inside the European Union. Please take into account that the process can take up to 3-4 months in total.
Have a very good command of written and spoken English (at least a B2-C1 level of English). IELTs/OET examination would be recommendable although not essential for Consultant positions if you can proof a good level of English.
Available to start immediately or in a maximum of 3-4 months if not yet registered.
Irish/UK experience preferable although NOT essential.
At least 5-6 years’ experience in Radiology is required (including your training years).
Skills in general radiology and interventional radiologys are required.
Experience in the areas of Breast Radiology and/or cross sectional imaging would be of benefit although NOT essential.
